WordPress’ false advertising for those of us who can’t shut up
January 29, 2010 | 10:58 amAs you may have noticed, my posts are always rather lengthy. And i’m constantly being told to keep it short, that there’s more chance of readership with short and punchy posts. And that’s probably true.
But here’s the thing: it’s WordPress’ fault
Seriously, as I type this new post, I’m working in a text box that is really wide, and so far, i’m only on my 2nd line of text. But when i’ll publish it, the column is much narrower and even this short post will be much longer than i think it is. So it’s false advertising.
OK, FINE, it’s not actually wordpress’ fault. It’s my screen’s fault for being so wide, it’s my template’s fault for being so narrow… yeah, yeah… it’s maybe it’s my fault too for being so chatty. Just felt like ranting.
But brings up an interesting question: are long posts really a bad thing? Do they turn you off? Or would you lap it up if the topic interested you? Give me your thoughts!

There’s this little thing called a word counter …maybe you’ve heard of it?
ok, i don’t like you… go away!
ok, but jokes aside… are long posts really a bad thing? i mean, if something’s not interesting, you wouldn’t read it even if it was 2 paragraphs. but IF it’s interesting, wouldn’t you be ok reading 6-7 paragraphs? Thoughts? Anyone?
